Experience and dreams: God has overflowed my
cup to over-running joy. I can only stand in awe of my
awesome life. The life God has given to me, the life he
has allowed me to lead.
Childhood dreams of vast mountain ranges- God
has given them to me. Mountains are now my
playground. I am a successful modern day mountain
man. Hiking, fly fishing, camping, open flames of great
cooked smells and hot tea. Grizzly bears and Elk and
Bison and wolves, I stand in awe Lord. You have
blessed me far more than I expected. I chose Jesus
Christ, I chose wisely. I now have this great wilderness
at my doorstep. No place is better than at the footstool
of a great mountain range. Nothing is better than
those snow peaks, than long journeys of discovery.
Every day is a new adventure in the mountains. I live a
life of joyful awe. I give my thanks to Jesus Christ, my
King.
I daily stand in awe of many things; I walk in
thankfulness all my hours. I am thankful for sunshine, a
cool breeze, for snow covered winter days. I rejoice in
simple things; finding a quarter on the ground. Hot
baths and relaxing music bring comfort to my nerves. I
stand in awe of playful puppies and loyal dogs, dogs
that sit without leashes outside stores waiting for their
masters. I imagine how great the world would be if
people waited on the Lord like dogs for their masters. I
enjoy frozen fruit and cold chocolate milk, whipped
cream on my apple pie; a good movie next to my wife
on a Friday night. I rejoice for Saturday night worship,
raising my hands high in a good church with no dress
code and constant wisdom from the Bible. I am thankful
for photography of tiny things; bugs, flowers, and
babies. I am thankful for good advice; the advice I tell
others that God once told me. All my wisdom came from
the Lord, our Maker in Heaven. Wooden hand-crafted
crosses, I stand in awe.
So much to be thankful for; snow ball fights,
skipping rocks across a lake, making a great walking
stick, a Dad’s wisdom, hearing your Mother’s voice, a
good smelling candle, licking rain drops from a pine tree’
s wet needles, fresh made bee’s honey, a juicy apple,
teaching your dog a new trick, a good back rub, crisp
clean mountain air, a well made outdoor knife, leftover
pizza, a Christian music radio station, sending Bibles to
foreign countries, rock climbing for a better view, just
sitting in quiet, playing with your kids toys, gathering the
family together around a Christmas tree, an I love you
note hidden for your spouse to find, words of
encouragement, a helicopter ride over a beautiful place,
a scary story by flashlight in a tent late at night, jumping
in a pile of leaves, a good joke to cheer up a friend,
making ginger bread houses, a 50 year marriage, and a
well deserved high-five. Life is full of inspiration, life is full
of awe.
Imagine this parable of your life and the bucket. Let’s
imagine everyone in all the world carried a bucket, with a
nice handle, in one of their hands all day long. The whole
purpose of the bucket was to collect all your daily
blessings, all your daily happiness, all your daily joy, and
all your daily earned fruits. Imagine the whole world, and
all the people in it, carrying around these buckets. The
buckets are swaying to and fro as the people walk.
Occasionally two buckets hit each other, but there is no
harm done. When blessings come they go into the
bucket, because the bucket is a part of you. When a
person is having a rough day they drop their bucket and
spill some of those blessings. They have to pick up the
bucket and recollect their blessings. Keep imaging all the
people across all the Earth with their buckets. Now
imagine all the people you know who are angry and sad
and stressed and overwhelmed and dealing with all sorts
of negative issues. Look down into all these types of
people’s buckets; do you see the huge whole in the
bottom of their buckets? Blessings come and go into their
buckets, but quickly fall out the bottoms. These people
have huge holes in their lives, huge holes in their
buckets. Those people cannot hold the daily fruits, the
daily happiness and joy, because they are lacking a part
of themselves. And the worst part about all this is that
those people are going so fast in their lives they won’t
slow down long enough to flip over their buckets and
repair the giant holes. They won’t do themselves justice
by fixing that which is destroying them. They stubbornly
carry their heavy buckets through life even when all the
blessings are falling out. I stand in awe of all people who
are overflowing with blessings. So many blessings are
filling up their buckets that they are spilling out all over
the ground as they walk. I watch as these people go by
and I smile at their swaying buckets, they have Jesus
Christ and have him in abundance. I stand in awe of
overflowing buckets. Now, excuse me while I go and pick
up some of the blessings that just spilled out of my own
bucket.
Jesus is- he always is! When I feel like there is no
one holding me, he is. He is always with me. If my
whole day is crumbling under the pressures of this
world, Jesus remains, Jesus is. He simply is. If I need a
friend, I look to my best friend; he is. Jesus is- a solid
place to stand, an anchor in a storm, and a healing
cloak of deliverance. A cool, comforting breeze when I
am working hard, he is. My ticket to Heaven, my gift of
eternal life, my Jesus is. Sharpening me like a sword
with God’s daily wisdom, yes, he is. When rust and
decay consume all of this world and nothing is left, he
still is what remains. All that I stand in awe of, Jesus is-
he really is.
